Shades of Honor An Anomaly Novel Book 2 edition by Sandy Williams Paranormal Romance eBooks

Shades of Honor, by author Sandy Williams, is the second installment in the Anomaly series. Having faced prison time, been accused of murder, treason, and brainwashed by a powerful telepath, Lieutenant Ramie "Ash" Ashdyn has a new leash on life. The only problem is that that leash is tight since she is considered dangerous. Assigned to a new team, lead by Major Liles, Ash finds herself protecting politicians on Meryk.

Meanwhile, Commander Rykus aka RIP (rest in peace), her lover, and mentor, is under investigation charged with some pretty serious violations of rules he sword to uphold. Rykus has tried hard to stay away from Ash because they are inclined to do crazy things in crazy places. Their romance is blistering hot, and there are others watching them for clues as if they can be fully trusted or not. If you haven't read the first novel in this story, Shades of Treason, please go back and do so.

This story concerns one main issue: The Coalition's enemy, the Sariceans, are open to negotiations even after a bitter battle that destroyed the Coalitions capital. This means that Rip, Ash, and her new teammates have to fly to a former outpost with Prime Tersa along for the ride. There is a side trip to Javery that must be made as well. That side trip means that Rip gets a reunion with his family. That side trip means that Ash, who is able to tell when someone is messing with her mind, a chance to prove herself to her team, and to Tersa even though Ash loves to go alone.

There's no reason to expect that you will understand previous actions and storylines without knowing why Ash and Rip are in the position they are now, and why they've been told they have to say away from each other. Ash is an anomaly. She is badass. She's stronger, faster, and more skilled than normal humans. She has to take regular boosters that help her heal, and keep her sane. She also underwent loyalty training that pretty much ensures that she will continue her mission until the very end. Even if that end means her death.

There are some additional positives for this story. There are interesting new secondary characters like Rip's sister Taya who tries to pull Ash into an even more quirky situation. There is the crpty anomaly Kaylee Teal who we didn't meet in the first book, but readers knew this person was responsible for tracking Ash down when she is on the run. She's really, really good folks. Plus, we get the highs, and lows of meeting Ash's new team including Hauch, and Mandell who have been told the good and the bad about Ash.

I love these two together. I love that there are obstacles and barricades that have been thrown in the way of their happiness, but Ash is the one who excels at finding ways to drive Rip crazy. She can itch his scratch any day of the week, and readers will be blown away by the scorching romance they are involved in. I loved the ending where Rip pretty much tells everyone that he and Ash are together, Have to say that Ash's revelation regarding her home planet of Glory is intriguing. So intriguing, in fact, that Williams left us with a compelling urge to ensure that we pick up the next book in the series to find out what happens next.

Shades of Honor An Anomaly Novel Book 2 edition by Sandy Williams Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

A good follow-up to the first book. Williams' prose is steadily improving and the characters are interesting without being cliches
Didn't like this one as much as the first in this series. Not enough story, and it has fallen back on the standard romance pattern of "Does he/doesn't he?".
2nd book in the series and I won't continue if there is a 3rd. Absolutely loved the Shadow Reader and the rest of that series was good. Ash just isn't interesting and the book reads like a Lifetime movie.
I might like this one better than the first as we get to see more character development, but I already enjoy the main characters. Of course, there's lots of action, lots of intrigue set up for the next book, not as much romance, but what IS there, is hot!!! Really enjoyed the book, didn't want to put it down!
This wasn't as compelling as the first book. The storyline of what they were doing didn't make as much sense logically. But I love these characters and their love story and the adventure so much, that I can't wait for the next one!
Author Sandy Williams continues her Anomaly series with Shades of Honor which picks up where Shades of Treason leaves off with Ash being reassigned to a new teams and feeling them out while still dealing with her feelings for her fail-safe. Her fail-safe is the man that trained her and the man with who she is in love with. But as things progress Ash and her fail-safe are assigned to a diplomatic mission to a station in the middle of no where were they are caught up within an insurrection, This is a fast passed story and one that I recommend for any science fiction fan.

SHADES OF HONOR continues the Anomaly series. The Anomaly series is a great military sci-fi series, that I feel can be enjoyed by urban fantasy readers and sci-fi readers alike. The heroine effectively has supernatural powers that make her one of the best soldiers in the Known Universe making her seem a lot like urban fantasy heroine.

SHADES OF HONOR keeps all the things I loved about about SHADES OF TREASON, everything from the intense battles and political intrigue to the great romance subplot. SHADES OF HONOR adds to that including an epic chase scene and a lot of great character development. SHADES OF TREASON spent most of the time devoted to characters just introducing them, this allows SHADES OF HONOR to actually take time to develop the characters know that you are familiar with them. Sandy Williams put a lot of effort into really fleshing out Ash and Rip in SHADES OF HONOR, and I'm eager to see how they continue to develop in the next book.

My only problem with SHADES OF HONOR is the same one I had with SHADES OF TREASON. And I even had reason to believe it would be avoided too. About halfway through the book Ash and Rip talk about how stupid it was for them to have sex when they were literally being chased down by an enemy force. So I thought the sex scene in this book wouldn't be so stupid. But it still was. When Ash and Rip should be getting ready for an op only minutes away, they decide that is a good time to have sex, and in the armory of all places. I'm sure others won't have a problem with this, but it really makes it hard for me to suspend my disbelief.

In the end, what made SHADES OF HONOR such an amazing book for me was that it actually made me laugh on multiple occasions. So if nothing else I said piqued your interest maybe that does. SHADES OF HONOR isn't a "hard science" science fiction novel. SHADES OF HONOR focuses on character and world development, so you don't have to worry about pages and pages of technical information. SHADES OF HONOR is just an amazing story that takes place in space, and I highly recommend it.

One sex scene
