Kill on Command Sean Garrison Novel Book 1 edition by Slaton Smith Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Excellent book and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to other Sean Garrison books.
Could you let me know when next book comes in 2014.
Kill On Command is not the best book I read this year. But, it is a quality piece of work that I would definitely recommend. There are a few editing errors in the book that you will notice.
The character development is a little weak, but it is not enough to detract from the story. I am confidant that Slaton Smith will only get better with practice. I can't wait to read the next Sean Garrison adventure!
Full disclosure The author is a personal friend, but I did pay for this copy.
This a good read, especially if you like this genre, which I do. The Sean Garrison character is interesting to me because he is a regular guy. We all have friends like Sean. We like to socialize with people like Sean. The fact he has been manipulated into being an assassin for a covert CIA group without his knowledge is intriguing. He could be the guy in the mirror. He's not some super trained tactical elite Navy Seal type. Just a guy. If you like action and suspense it's hard not to like this book.
Kill on Command has everything I like in a book likeable characters, intertwining plot lines, and interesting twists. Sean Garrison is fascinating and loveable - someone I'd want to hang out with. I'm rarely surprised by plot twists in books but Slaton Smith knows how to tell a story and I was genuinely surprised on several occasions. I can't wait for more in the Sean Garrison series!
I appreciate the author's concept in making a super-warrior. It may be possible in time to come. Sean is an easy guy to get to know and I hope there is more because the girl got away. I don't think they are through with each other. The action scenes are super and really kept my attention. I hope Mr. Smith will do more on this line.
Some rogue CIA operatives enlist the assistance of a doctor to inject a serum into the brain of a number of unsuspecting subjects. The serum makes them super human in speed and ability and makes them ideal assassins.
The serum has side effects and they lose a lot if subjects but enough make it through to carry out their plans.
Bad guys start dying all over the world in violent deaths until the last two want revenge on their makers.
A lot of clandestine operations, shooting, knifing etc make this a good action read
I thought 'Kill On Command' was a good solid read for a wet weekend (probably just as good on a nice weekend too!). The premise is interesting and the story fast-paced but not so much that I lost track as I tend to do in novels that leap about too quickly. The author writes well and the only thing that I would pick him up on is the need to get a new proof-reader as there are many small errors (mainly spelling and the use of the wrong form of a word e.g. devise for device, carbide for carbine), enough, for me anyway, to detract from the story itself.
The author clearly knows and loves Pittsburgh and this comes out in his writing without being over the top after reading Kill on Command, I feel that I could navigate the city quite easily but I don't feel that the author's knowledge was being grandstanded in front of me.
As the first in a series, this story ties up enough plot lines to resolve itself comfortably by the end while still leaving at least two good plot lines to develop further in the series (without that ripped-off 'I have to buy the next one?' feeling). I would certainly be keen to read the next in the series...
I really enjoyed this book and found it to be just the right mix between action, suspense, and dare I say it love and betrayal. I will definitely look forward to the next few books in the series.
